The 5th Phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is a landmark solar PV project developed in Dubai, UAE. Operated by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), the 900 MW facility provides clean energy to approximately 270,000 residences, helping reduce carbon emissions by over 1.18 million tonnes annually. This phase is part of Dubai’s broader clean energy roadmap, which aims to reach a total capacity of 5GW by 2030 across the entire solar park.

This phase utilized state-of-the-art photovoltaic technology, including bifacial solar panels that capture sunlight from both sides for maximum output. Developed by Shuaa Energy 3—a joint venture between DEWA and a consortium led by ACWA Power—the project achieved the world’s lowest bid for solar energy at just 1.6953 cents per kilowatt-hour. Its early completion and massive environmental impact reflect both DEWA’s technical capacity and its commitment to sustainability leadership in the region.
