The Abydos Solar PV Plant in Egypt’s Aswan Governorate is a landmark renewable energy project by AMEA Power. With a capacity of 500 MW, the plant will generate 1,500 GWh of clean electricity annually—enough to power around 300,000 homes—while offsetting over 782,000 tons of CO₂ emissions. The project was completed in just 18 months, exemplifying AMEA Power’s efficiency, technical prowess, and commitment to clean energy transformation.

Supported by leading financiers such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO), and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the project also created over 3,000 jobs during its development. The Abydos plant is a vital part of Egypt’s strategic aim to derive 42% of its electricity from renewables by 2030, and it sets the stage for further expansion through upcoming wind and battery storage systems.
